Firmware Versions

NOTE: This documentation is only accurate for the Muse 2014 headband.

Version 7.8.0 (Released May 25, 2015)

  • Research presets included.
  • Disabled automatic launch of Muse app on iOS devices

Version 7.6.2 (Released April 14, 2015)

  • Bug fix: When you have paired to both and iOS and Android device, and both devices are on and within range of the Muse, it was not possible to connect Muse to the Android device.  It would keep trying to connect to the iOS device instead. Fixed.

Version 7.6.1 (Released April 14, 2015)

  • Muse Bluetooth name changed to Muse-#### with #### matching the last 4 digits of the serial number (MAC address). This allows the user to more easily identify their Muse if they are in a group.
  • Battery charge properly displayed on deep-discharged Muses.
  • Bootloader Bluetooth improvements to allow faster pairing.

Version 7.6.0 (Released March 4, 2015)

  • Bluetooth pairing and connection (non iOS) is faster and more reliable.  Tests connected reliably within 6 seconds.
  • Reduced power consumption in connected state.
  • Bluetooth settings changes now take effect immediately, instead of after a power cycle.

Version 7.2.5 (Released Nov 19, 2014)

  • Improved factory-reset stability.

Version 7.2.4 (Released July 28, 2014)

  • User-visible behavior changes:
    • Bug fix: Remember last known paired device, no matter what type of device was connected. Previously remembered only iOS devices.
      • Example of this problem: pair to an iOS device, then pair to an Android.  Keep both mobile devices on, and power cycle Muse(but do not put it into pairing mode). Muse would auto-connect to the iOS device even though it last connected to the Android.

Version 7.2.2 (Released July 22, 2014)

  • User-visible behavior changes:
    • Bug fix: LEDs showed disconnected sequence in the following sequence of events:
      1. Connect to Muse using standard procedure. LEDs are enabled.
      2. Kill connection by closing the app or killing MuseIO. LEDs go back to scanning mode.
      3. Connect to Muse again using same device, LEDs do not change – they are still scanning, should be solid.

Version 7.2.1 (Released June 20, 2014)

  • User-visible behavior changes:
    • Boot up with power button
      • Turn on: hold the button for 500ms instead of 1 second.
      • Accidental tap does not power on anymore (bug fix).
      • LEDs show up right away on boot up.
      • Boot up LEDs do not turn off until boot up sequence is complete. The boot up sequence takes 4 seconds (500ms for holding button down, 3.5 seconds boot up).
    • Battery check sequence behavior
      • It’s possible to power down while the battery sequence is being displayed.
      • LED sequence only flashes the top-most LED at the end of the sequence.
      • Bluetooth can still transmit during battery level check button-tap.
    • Pairing mode behavior
      • Go into pairing mode after 5 seconds instead of 6 seconds.
    • Power save behavior
      • 5 minute timeout in all cases before going to sleep
    • Turn off with power button behavior
      • Hold the button for 500ms instead of 1 second
    • Plugging in with cable behavior
      • Turns on LED immediately instead of after 1 second delay
